My Coaching Philosophy
Commitment to being you is probably the most courageous thing you will ever do in life.
In Co-Active Coaching Co stands for what's feminine within us, the essence, beauty, emotions, values - the part that informs who are are are people, what's important to us, how we are as people. Active stands for the masculine clarity, focus, drive and action, it's what we do. We need to integrate both parts in order to do things that matter to us, bring fulfilment to our lives and that inspire us to take meanigful action. It's easier to actualise after we conceptualise and sometimes we simply need to talk things through in a safe, confidential space without being judged, without pressure or recrimination. Coaching is a process of helping people understand who they are and who they want to be to accomplish the goals they set for themselves.
My main principles in coaching are:
Raising client's self-awareness
"I am able to control only that which I am aware of. That which I am unaware of controls me. Awareness empowers me." John Whitmore
Self awareness brings automatic self-correction. It’s curative. It also allows us to make conscious choices in our lives. It's also about knowing the impact we create by being us. A lot of work in coaching goes into increasing the client's self-awareness. I invest time and care in offering honest feedback. I think people 'want to know'. I strive to do so in a sensitive and constructive manner, respecting your dignity and humanity.
You are naturally creative, resourceful and whole
Where blame ends, responsibility emerges. I believe that you are creative, resourceful and whole and can take responsibility for who you are, your dreams, values and striving. You don't need fixing or being told what to do. I am here to help you clarify what you want to achieve. If something is keeping you stuck, we will work creatively to eliminate these obstacles and help you stretch your thinking, heal what's hurting you and brain-storm actions which will propel you towards who you want to be in life. Coaching can be personally challenging and feel vulnerable. It can bring up anxiety and confusion. I value both because anxiety is an indicator that we are reaching the limits of what’s known to us, but what also keeps us stuck, and confusion is the precursor of learning and change. After all "a smooth sea has never made a skilful sailor".
Making Courageous Choices
I truly believe that passion often comes from a vulnerable place and following your own path requires courage, work and determination. It requires making different, often emotionally charged and courageous choices. But it is a journey towards fulfilment and is full of hope. There are bound to be moments of doubt and moments that can feel like you have failed but I am sure you will have learnt a thing or two in the process. I will walk with you and commit to supporting you in daring to do your thing regardless.
